Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic is a family-owned, award-winning practice celebrating 50 years of exceptional care. As one of the longest-established clinics in the southeast of England, it holds a special place in the community, located just a short walk from the heart of Chelmsford city centre.
Modernising the Reception Area
Design by Two was tasked with modernising and enhancing the reception area to reflect the clinic’s reputation for outstanding quality and service. Inspired by clinic owner Dicken Read’s vision, we set out to create a warm, welcoming environment for clients that offered modern facilities, including a self-check-in option for added convenience.
Functional and Aesthetic Integration
Functional elements were thoughtfully integrated into the space, including a self-check-in totem for client convenience, and a display and storage unit showcasing the clinic’s treatment and vitamin products. This combination of practicality and aesthetics ensures the reception area is both beautiful and highly functional.
Material Selection and Detailing
Materiality played a key role in elevating the design. Striking tile finishes were applied to key features such as the reception desk, which also boasts a thermo-formed solid surface countertop for durability and style. High-quality leather chairs with ergonomic contoured designs, detailed with contrast stitching and piping, were chosen to enhance client comfort. Stainless steel accents and staggered ring pendant lighting add a contemporary edge, while the adjoining garden conservatory space ties the design together with a serene ambience.

The redesigned reception has transformed the operational flow of the clinic, improving efficiency and creating a better client experience. The space is a testament to the quality of service Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic is famed for, offering a seamless blend of functionality, comfort, and style to celebrate its legacy and future.
Key Design Features
The redesign focused on reconfiguring the reception desk to accommodate two receptionists, enabling a seamless and professional client greeting process. A curved feature wall displaying the “Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic” signage softens the space, while the waiting area provides comfortable seating for up to 10 clients, creating a relaxing and inviting atmosphere.
Bespoke Reception Desk Design
The bespoke curved reception desk was central to the new design. It was carefully crafted to allow for direct, face-on interaction with clients, enhancing the personal touch the clinic is known for. The serene environment was brought to life through a calming colour palette inspired by the clinic’s unique brand identity, ensuring the design was not only functional but also reflective of the clinic’s heritage and values.
