Located in London’s fashionable west end district of Marylebone and ideally positioned in and amongst the suburbs high end restaurants, chic boutiques, and independent bars, this previously vacant pub unit was converted into Marylebone Leisure Groups ninth food and beverage retail venue, Home Marylebone Bar and Natural Kitchen.
Lawrence Santi’s vision was to create a venue that offered a menu of delicious, healthy natural food options with an extensive drink range in an environment that reflected the offer and would be both warm and welcoming to both Marylebone’s residents and tourists alike.
Design
The striking ornate façade of the 19th century building, with its curved corner entrance doors framed by a beautiful floral arrangement that winds along the shopfront elevations, welcomes you into this small and intimate space.
On entry into the bar area, you are greeted with a servery showcasing reclaimed timber, brass detailing and a veined solid surface countertop that complement one another and create a beautiful statement of intent for the remainder of the interior finishes within both the venue’s drinking and dining areas.
Neutral hues and tones, that create the natural warmth and palette of the interior, are all reflected in the selection and mix of upholsteries, paint finishes and timbers throughout.
Details
Illuminated floating shelves, set in front of an antique brass mirror, provide a prominent display for the wide range of spirits and liqueurs on offer to guests. The shelves seamlessly transfer from the delightfully veined solid surface upstand, which runs up and out from the countertop, incorporating a dominant illuminated spirit display to the centre of the backfitting.
The bar and dining spaces are subtly defined by two screens, with their bespoke organic pattern design inspired by the veining found on a leaf, which has been interpreted into the fret cut panels which run from floor to the underside of the ceiling canopy above.
The focal feature of the design is the luscious array of planting, with lights festooned within the foliage, that cascades and spans across the entirety of the venue.
