The library incorporates innovative and engaging features that promote interaction and creativity. Sensory tactile feature wall panels, including an infinity screen, provide a captivating focal point, while varied seating options such as banquettes, seating pods, beanbags, and low stools accommodate different learning and relaxation styles. Smart screen touch TVs bring updated technology into the heart of learning. A central raised floor, complemented by a sweeping, DDA-compliant ramp, integrates accessibility with design, and is surrounded by colourful curved and circular seating, fostering spaces for both independent and group activities.

Sustainability played a central role in the design of this project, with several thoughtful and eco-friendly design choices integrated throughout. The pod seating is upholstered in vibrant, durable fabrics made from recycled materials, ensuring both comfort and environmental responsibility. The carpet tiles feature recycled fibres, cleverly arranged to create a bold and engaging floor pattern, adding texture while reducing the use of new materials. Additionally, the existing wall-mounted bookcases were carefully upcycled and refurbished, preserving valuable resources and extending their lifespan. These sustainable choices reflect a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of the design while maintaining both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

The vivid colour palette flows through the library’s décor, furniture, and joinery, creating a high-energy and inspiring environment for pupils to explore, learn, and grow.
